If you're like me then you love camping. There's just something about being in the great outdoors that is so very special. Once you've slept under the stars you'll always want to experience the same magic again and again. There is also a great deal of satisfaction to be had if you are able to hunt and fish while camping. Sleeping under the stars, hunting from the land, and if you're lucky even finding wild berries and roots can be a very rewarding experience. Once feels as if you are a part OF nature not merely using or passing through it. If you've never experienced it you'd never believe it.
Another great perk of the camping trip and campsite in general is the camp fire. This central gathering place allows you to roast wienies and create tasty treats. Usually these are composed of a graham cracker crust which has within it a marshmallow and tasty milk chocolate. These go by many names but they are always delicious! I think I could eat maybe twenty or thirty of these delectable treats. If you've never had one I suggest you use the recipe and some initiative to create a batch for yourself and those close to you.
Where should you camp? Well I am a bit biased... but with good reason. I suppose everyone says that though. I was born and raised in the northeast and believe me these woods and meadows are where the action is. This land has absolutely everything. Wonderful fall foliage, great hunting, world class fishing and some of the finest public parks in America. These parks are full of wildlife and have many camping opportunities. If you're looking for a great time hiking and camping you can't find a better place than the Appalachian train. This interconnect trail leads hundreds of miles and offers great views and camping.
Sometimes you'll hear stories that are usually meant to scare the novice camper. These include the so called "Big foot" or "Sasquatch" and are completely false. It's important to relax and enjoy the wilderness when you're lucky enough to get a chance to be in it. A word of caution though, there are threats out there. These include bears in the northeast and it's important to hoist food out of reach so as to make it unappealing to the animals. Bear safety could save your life so be extra careful when in the country of these furry beasts. Also there are ticks and things so watch out and junk.
